Red Flint is a new Partnership and has been in business since 2020. We decided that there had to be somewhere to go for solutions to tough problems, where the maths or algorithms can make a difference to your business.
We aim to demystify complex and interconnected problems, and come up with solutions that are efficient, accurate, scalable and supportable. We seek to provide solutions that make the most of modern high performance computer architectures, and yet are flexible and transportable to new platforms as technology advances.
Our Values
Everywhere you look there is IT. Smartphones, tablets, computers, servers, the Cloud, the Internet of Things, platforms … the list is endless. People want things to be always available, fast and accurate. But it has to be cheap. So, code is written poorly and the inefficiencies mean that more processing is done than is absolutely necessary. All that extra processing needs more power, generates more heat and produces more greenhouse gas. To cap it all, in the attempt to keep costs down, the big cloud providers put their datacentres in cold locations, and that then melts the tundra or the ice sheets.
That’s simply not good enough. Well developed maths, algorithms and code can reduce the burden on our world, and that is what we believe in. Put simply, we believe in:
- .. Eco-IT©
- .. Use Your Mind; and
- .. Don't Take The Lazy Way Out.
Sustainability
Before founding Red Flint we have worked on some of the most challenging aerospace, data and information problems for decades. In the 1990s we wrote code for Cray® supercomputers. In the 2000s we developed algorithms for parallel architectures. In the 2010s we invested in high performance Microsoft® SQL based Machine Learning. Now we are specialising in Intel®oneAPI to get the most out of every CPU or GPU operation we need.
More efficient code, based on better maths and data structures is good for the environment. And, as customers of our codes and applications, you can buy cheaper hardware and spend less on electricity and cooling without sacrificing performance for your e-commerce or your other business critical systems, users and customers.
Anyone can say that they can do this, but do they really? How many times have you had a discussion with an IT prime contractor where they have told you about how they are going to make code for you more environmentally friendly and save you money without sacrificing performance? Probably never. This is something we believe in. Not just for you but for our planet.
